The Leopard's Wine

Duiker was angry that Leopard wouldn't share his palm-wine, so he hid in a bush, waiting. When Leopard walked by carrying a gourd of wine, Duiker stuck out a leg, tripping him. Leopard stumbled and spilled the wine.
"How could I be so clumsy?" he groaned.
After he left, Duiker licked up the wine.
Goat wanted Leopard's wine too, so he hid in the same bush, and when Leopard walked by, Goat stuck out a leg. But Leopard knew better now: he grabbed the leg, pulled Goat out, and killed him.
Leopard ate goat stew with his wine that night.

Inspired by: "The Leopard's Wine" in Bantu tales by Virginia  Holladay, 1970.
Notes: You can read the original story online. The name of the leopard is in Kaonde (Zambia, called Kiluba in the Congo) is Nkashama, and the name of the antelope is Kabuluku, which is the Blue Duiker, a tiny antelope.
