Maricha and Ravana

While still a boy, Rama killed the rakshasi Thataka, but her son Maricha escaped.
Maricha retreated into the wilderness, living as a hermit.
Years passed.
Then one day, to Maricha's surprise, his nephew Ravana stormed into his ashram. "Uncle!" he shouted. "I'm going to kidnap the wife of a man named Rama who lives in Dandaka forest, and I need your help."
When he heard Rama's name, Maricha shuddered. He did his best to dissuade Ravana, but to no avail.
"You will become a golden deer," Ravana explained, "and lure Rama into the woods. That's when I will kidnap Sita!"
