Anansi, Turtle, and the Pigeons

Anansi and Turtle watched the Pigeons.
"I wish we could fly!" said Anansi.
"Me too!" said Turtle.
"We'll help you," said the Pigeons. "Turtle first!"
They glued feathers to Turtle's shell and carried him through the air to Tiger's corn-field.
Then they gave Turtle a bag. "Gather the corn!"
Turtle started gathering corn, but Tiger came. The Pigeons flew off, leaving Turtle behind.
"You're the corn-thief!" shouted Tiger.
"No!" said Turtle. "Just ask Anansi! I flew here with the Pigeons. They're the thieves!"
"Turtles can't fly," scoffed Tiger. "But they make good soup!"
And Tiger took Turtle home for supper.
