Nasruddin's wife shook him awake in the night.
"Husband!" she whispered. "Husband! Wake up! I think I hear a burglar downstairs."
Nasruddin sat up sleepily in the bed.
"I think I hear a burglar!" she repeated.
Then, after a moment, Nasruddin nodded. "I hear him too."
"What are we going to do?" she asked nervously.
"We're not going to do anything!" said Nasruddin. "We'll just stay here and keep as quiet as possible. After all, there is nothing worth stealing downstairs. I imagine he will figure that out quite soon. And if we're lucky, he might accidentally leave something behind!"
