The Monkey and Her Babies

The animals were arguing about who had the most beautiful children. All the animals were there, and they were all boasting about their children.
The lioness brought her baby: already so handsome!
The bear brought her baby: already so strong!
The giraffe brought her baby: already so tall!
The elephant brought her baby: already able to wave his trunk!
The monkey was also there, cradling her infants in her arms.
When the other animals saw her, they all started laughing at her.
The monkey exclaimed, "But you have to admit that my babies are the most beautiful by far!"

Inspired byMille Fabulae et Una, a collection of Latin fables that I've edited, free to read online. I am not translating the Latin here; instead, I am just telling a 100-word version of the fable.
Notes: This is fable 107 in the book, which is Perry 364. In some versions of the story, Zeus is judging the beauty contest.
