The Green Donkey

A young widow wanted to remarry, but she was afraid people would gossip.
"Don't worry," advised her neighbor. "I'll explain how it works. Do you have a donkey?"
The widow nodded yes.
"So, go paint that donkey green and lead him around town. A green donkey, they'll say the first day. And they'll ooh-and-ahh on the second day, and maybe on the third day. But in four or five days, no one will even notice."
The widow smiled as her neighbor continued, "A remarried widow is like that green donkey: news for a few days, but then no one notices."
