Anansi and the Dog-Child

Monkey stole Mrs. Dog's child. She told Dog, and Dog told Anansi, and they went to Monkey-Country to rescue the dog-child.
When they got there, the Monkeys were all chattering. "No dog-children here," they said. "Go away!"
"Listen to all the chattering!" said Anansi. "I never heard such ignorant creatures in my life. None of them knows how to bark!"
The Monkeys stopped chattering.
"Can't anybody around here bark like a civilized creature?" asked Anansi.
Dog barked, and Mrs. Dog barked, and then they heard the dog-child barking.
Monkey returned the dog-child and apologized.
Children must be careful of strangers.
