The Farmer's Helpers

A lazy farmer was out plowing in his field one day when he stopped working and just stood there, feeling sorry for himself.
"Alas, poor me!" he moaned. "I have to do all this work by myself with no one to help me."
As the farmer was loudly lamenting his situation, a passerby shouted at him, "You've got ten servants to help you!"
"What are you talked about?" the farmer asked him.
"I said you've got ten servants! Just look at your hands: don't you have ten fingers? They are your helpers, so stop your complaining and get to work!"

Inspired byMille Fabulae et Una, a collection of Latin fables that I've edited, free to read online. I am not translating the Latin here; instead, I am just telling a 100-word version of the fable.
Notes: This is fable 833 in the book, which is not in Perry's catalog; it's from a Latin schoolbook.
