The Lion's Feast

The lion king organized an extravagant feast for his subjects, ordering the royal cooks to prepare various roasts and stews. "Exquisite!" said the lion when he saw the array of dishes they prepared.
The meat-eating animals, like the dog and the cat, were delighted with the banquet. "Thank you, O Lion King, for this marvelous feast!" they said.
The grass-eating animals, though, like the goat and the cow, thought the food was disgusting, and they went away grumbling. "There wasn't anything good to eat!" they said.
The moral of the story is that even the lion king can't please everyone.

Inspired byMille Fabulae et Una, a collection of Latin fables that I've edited, free to read online. I am not translating the Latin here; instead, I am just telling a 100-word version of the fable.
Notes: This is fable 17 in the book; it's a fable from Abstemius, not listed in Perry.
