"This farmer's devotion moves me," Vishnu remarked.
"But why?!" Narada protested. "He says your name once at dawn, and then once at night. That's nothing!"
"Take this cup of oil," said Vishnu, "and carry it with you for a week. Never put it down! And don't spill a drop."
Narada obeyed. It was exhausting!
Vishnu then asked, "How often did you manage to remember me?"
"I thought only of not spilling the oil," Narada admitted.
Vishnu smiled. "But that farmer, despite his great burdens and worries, never fails to invoke my name each dawn and each night. That is devotion."
