The Dog that Barked in the Night

Nasruddin had a neighbor whose dog barked all night. Nasruddin and his wife couldn't sleep because of the dog yipping and yapping all night long.
Nasruddin complained to the neighbor, but the dog kept on barking.
Finally, Nasruddin bought the dog.
"What a good idea!" said Nasruddin's wife. "We can take the dog out into the country to give to my brother."
"Absolutely not!" replied Nasruddin. "I'm keeping the dog right here."
"Why on earth would you do that?" his wife asked.
"I want my neighbor to experience what it's like to have a neighbor whose dog barks all night!"

Notes: This is on p. 5 in the book. I added the part about Nasruddin's wife and brother-in-law.
