The Rich Man in Winter

On a bitterly cold morning, a rich man met a poor man along the road who wore nothing but a threadbare coat, yet the poor man did not appear to be cold, while the rich man was shivering in his fine coat and hat and gloves.
"How can you endure the cold?" the rich man asked.
"Well," said the poor man, "I'm wearing all the clothes that I have; that's what it takes to keep me warm. I'd advise you to do the same: put on all the clothes you own, and I'm sure you'll be warm too."

Notes: This fable is not part of the classical Aesop tradition; find out more here. There is a similar story told about Nasruddin.
