The Miser's Apple Orchard

There was a miserly man who had a beautiful apple orchard, but the only fruits he served to his guests were rotten apples.
This miserly man had a good-hearted son, who was just as generous as his father was miserly.
So, when this young man invited his friends to come with him to raid the apple orchard, he always told them, "Take all the apples you want, my friends! But please take only the nice ripe apples; don't touch the nasty rotten ones! My father only likes rotten apples, and I wouldn't want to deprive him of his favorites."
