The Rich Man and the Wood

A miserly rich man refused the give the peasants a fair price for the wood they brought him.
His good-hearted neighbor urged him to be more generous to the poor peasants, but the rich man did not listen. "I don't care how poor they are!" he shouted. "That is their problem, not mine."
During the night, the wood he had bought so cheaply caught fire, and the rich man's house burned to the ground, as did his barns and warehouses.
Thus the very next day that rich man found himself to be as poor as the poorest peasant.
