A hermit had put his complete trust in God. "I shall sit here," he said, "and do nothing. I won't move. I will only wait in the faith that God will provide."
A passing caravan saw the hermit sitting there, motionless.
"Hello!" shouted the travelers.
The hermit said nothing.
"He must be starving," the travelers said, so they offered him food, but the hermit wouldn't even open his mouth.
So the travelers pried open his mouth and forced soup down his throat, and then bread.
The hermit smiled as he thought, "Whether we want it or not, God will provide."
