The Envious Fox and the Wolf

The fox visited the wolf and saw his den full of food; she was jealous.
"I missed you," she said sweetly.
"You just want to steal my food!" the wolf replied.
This made the fox angry so she went to the shepherd. "Come with me; I'll lead you to the wolf." The shepherd followed the fox and, after he had killed the wolf, she feasted on the food.
Not long after, the fox fell into a hunter's snare. As the hunter's dogs tore her to pieces, she thought, "I led a wicked life, and now I'll die a wicked death."

Inspired byMille Fabulae et Una, a collection of Latin fables that I've edited, free to read online. I am not translating the Latin here; instead, I am just telling a 100-word version of the fable.
Notes: This is fable 63 in the book, which is Perry 568.
