The Crow and the Rabbit

A crow saw a rabbit nibbling grass in the meadow, and he also saw a hunter nearby. "I must warn him!" thought the crow, so he flew down and landed on the ground.
"Run away!" he told the rabbit. "The hunter is coming!"
The rabbit took the crow's advice, and so he escaped the hunters.
The crow, however, was unable to fly away; his feet were caught in that same hunter's snare. Thus, while helping another out of danger, the crow had fallen into danger himself.
You need to take care of yourself as well as taking care of others.

Inspired byMille Fabulae et Una, a collection of Latin fables that I've edited, free to read online. I am not translating the Latin here; instead, I am just telling a 100-word version of the fable.
Notes: This is fable 436 in the book, which is not in Perry's catalog; it is from the neo-Latin fabulist Desbillons.
