The Foolish Boy and the River

There was a foolish boy, and his mother sent him to market.
The boy set off obediently, but he was not sure what to do when he reached the river. It kept flowing and flowing.
"How will I manage to cross the river?" he wondered. "When will the water ever run out?"
He lay there and waited. And waited. And waited. And still the river kept running.
When it grew dark he returned home and told his mother what happened. "You can't wait for the river to run dry, foolish boy," she said. "Instead, go find the bridge!"

Notes: This tale of a fool is not found in the classic Aesopic tradition. I added the helpful advice about the bridge at the end.
