The Crow and the Wolves

A raven followed a pack of wolves all day; at nightfall the wolves finally grabbed a sheep.
"My dear wolf friends," said the raven, "I would like my share of the sheep also!"
The wolves, however, snarled at the raven viciously.
"But I am your loyal and steadfast companion," the crow protested.
"You are nothing but a greedy raven," the wolves howled back, "and you would just as soon be feasting on a dead wolf as on this dead sheep."
Realizing that he would get no supper there, the raven departed, looking for other carrion on which to feed.
